Dentures and Partial Dentures in Oakland, CA

A well-made denture should let you eat, speak and smile without thinking about it. If yours clicks, rubs or has simply stopped fitting as your jaw has changed, that is something we can fix rather than something you have to live with.

Replacing Missing Teeth, Comfortably

A full denture replaces all the teeth in an arch. A partial denture fills the gaps where some natural teeth remain, and it also stops those remaining teeth from drifting into the spaces. Both are made to impressions of your own mouth, and both need several appointments so we can check the fit and the bite as we go.

If a conventional denture has never felt secure, implant-supported options are worth discussing. As few as two implants in the lower jaw can hold a denture firmly in place, which for most people is the single biggest improvement in comfort available.

  • Complete dentures for upper and lower arches
  • Partial dentures that protect the remaining teeth
  • Implant-retained dentures that do not slip
  • Immediate dentures fitted at the time of extraction
  • Relines and repairs when the fit changes
  • Denture cleaning and maintenance advice

Benefits

What a Good Denture Changes

Eat a Proper Diet Again

Missing back teeth quietly change what people eat. Restoring the chewing surfaces makes fresh fruit, vegetables and meat manageable again.

Support for the Face

Teeth support the lips and cheeks. A correctly built denture restores that support, which softens the collapsed look that follows tooth loss.

Confidence to Speak and Smile

Slipping dentures make people cautious in conversation. A denture that stays put removes that worry entirely.

What To Expect

How Your Denture Is Made

Consultation

We examine your mouth and any existing denture, discuss whether implants are an option, and agree a plan and a price.

Impressions

Accurate moulds of the gums, and where relevant the remaining teeth, are taken so the base fits closely.

Try-In

A wax version is tried in so you can see the tooth shape, shade and position, and we can check your bite, before anything is finalised.

Fit & Adjust

The finished denture is fitted. A follow-up visit to ease any sore spots is completely normal, so please come back rather than suffering in silence.

Good To Know

Living With Dentures

New dentures feel bulky for the first couple of weeks. That is the tongue and cheeks adapting, and it passes. Eating soft food cut into small pieces for the first few days, and chewing on both sides at once, makes the adjustment much faster.

Jawbone slowly changes shape after teeth are lost, so a denture that fitted perfectly five years ago may need relining. Do not rely on adhesive to hide a poor fit, because a loose denture rubs and can damage the gum underneath.

  • Take them out at night unless told otherwise
  • Clean daily with a denture brush, not toothpaste
  • Soak as directed to keep the material from drying out
  • Rinse after meals to prevent soreness
  • Come back for a reline when the fit loosens
  • Keep check-ups even with no natural teeth left
Questions

Denture Questions

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?
Most people feel noticeably better within two to four weeks. Speech usually settles first, eating takes a little longer. Reading aloud at home genuinely helps.
Can I have teeth on the same day as my extractions?
Immediate dentures can be fitted at the time of extraction so you are not without teeth. Because the gums shrink as they heal, an immediate denture will need relining or replacing later.
Are implant-supported dentures worth it?
For lower dentures in particular, the difference in stability is substantial. Two to four implants per arch is often enough. We can show you the options and costs side by side.
My denture is loose. Do I need a new one?
Not necessarily. Often a reline, which reshapes the fitting surface to your current gum, is enough and costs far less than a replacement.
Do you accept Medi-Cal or Denti-Cal for dentures?
We do see Medi-Cal / Denti-Cal patients. Coverage for dentures varies, so call us with your details and we will check your specific benefits before you commit.
